Christine Brewer, an American opera singer and soprano, was born in 1955 and grew up in Grand Tower, Illinois.
She studied music at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.

Early Career
Brewer's career began in St. Louis, Missouri, where she sang in the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus. From 1981, she performed with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and started appearing on the opera stage in solo roles.
In 1989, Brewer, who had received a masterclass from Birgit Nilsson, became one of the ten winners of the National Council auditions, funded by the Metropolitan Opera.
