Thomas Newman was born about 1565 in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England to parents Robert Newman and Joanne Rignell .

Thomas married Bridget Dryden in December of 1620

One rector noted for his long tenure was Rev. Thomas Newman, who was rector for over 40 years from 1598 to 1639. Newman served for a time as a Chief Burgess of Berkhamsted and mayor in 1631.
